Main features of Abraar School Arabic programs:

Primary Division (K – Grade 3)

  • Oral Communication
    Students demonstrate basic communication skills by becoming able to,
    • talk about familiar topics using basic vocabulary and simple phrases;
    • demonstrate an understanding of simple oral texts, using both verbal and non-verbal cues;
    • respond to simple oral instructions
    • use basic daily expressions to communicate their needs and desires.
  • Reading
    Students demonstrate basic reading skills by becoming able to,
    • read and understand simple texts in different formats.
    • demonstrate a basic understanding of vocabulary and language structures appropriate for this division;
    • understand basic and general ideas of most of reading materials;
    • become familiar with the simple and long Arabic vowels.
    • recognize the different sounds of the Arabic alphabets.
  • Writing
    Students demonstrate basic reading skills by becoming able to,
    • recognize the shapes of the Arabic letters in different positions in the words;
    • write simple words and sentences following given models;
    • understand basic Arabic grammatical and orthographical rules.

Junior Division (Grades 4-6)

  • Oral Communication
    Students demonstrate basic communication skills by becoming able to,
    • communicate in familiar contexts using simple sentences;
    • demonstrate an understanding of spoken language in familiar contexts, using both verbal and non-verbal cues;
    • carry simple conversations using relatively compound sentences;
    • demonstrate an understanding of simple oral texts, including short stories.
  • Reading
    Students demonstrate basic reading skills by becoming able to,
    • demonstrate an understanding of vocabulary and language structures appropriate for this division;
    • read and understand a variety of print materials in the writing system used in the program;
    • respect the words ending vowels while reading different Arabic texts.
  • Writing
    Students demonstrate basic reading skills by becoming able to,
    • write simple sentences in the writing system used in the program;
    • demonstrate an understanding of elements of grammar appropriate for this division;
    • write for a variety of purposes in the writing system used in the program.

Intermediate Division (Grades 7 & 8)

  • Oral Communication
    • communicate in various contexts and for a variety of purposes;
    • demonstrate an understanding of a variety of simple oral texts;
    • demonstrate an understanding of ideas conveyed in various oral texts.
  • Reading
    • read for a variety of purposes in the writing system used in the program, including information and enjoyment;
    • understand language structures and their functions;
    • demonstrate an understanding of ideas conveyed in various written texts.
  • Writing
    • use correctly the grammar and vocabulary elements specified for this division;
    • write for a variety of purposes in the writing system used in the program;
    • demonstrate a variety of research skills;
    • write in a variety of forms and for a variety of purposes using the writing system used in the program.
